SO I'VE BOOKED A MINI SESSION...WHAT DO I WEAR?

This is a really common question! There are a few things to keep in mind when thinking about what to wear to any photo shoot. I'll cover our top 4 recommendations in this post.

#1 WEAR SOMETHING COMFORTABLE

First and foremost, wear something that makes you comfortable! Photographers will most likely ask you to move around in a natural manner. You don't want to be tripping over uncomfortable shoes the whole time you're there. Mini sessions are supposed to be a fun time! Wear clothes that feel and look good on you.

These pictures should represent you in every way. If you dress up in uncomfortable clothes you don't wear often, you won't look comfortable or relaxed in pictures. You'll be too stressed about your clothes!

#2 WEAR COLORS THAT COMPLEMENT EACH OTHER

Thinking about wearing a bright red skirt and snuggling up next to your hunk in his burgundy sweater? Kinda like "Ouch!!? The clash in colors is really noticeable in the pictures! Make sure that the clothes you and your family/significant other/friends wear don't compete with each other. You want your smiling faces to be the focus of the photo, not clothes that clash. This leads me into my next tip, which is...

#3 DON'T WEAR BUSY PATTERNS

It's easy to throw on the graphic tee and some jeans, but that can be very distracting in pictures. Try to avoid busy patterns when picking your wardrobe. Instead try to find clothes with neutral colors and patterns so all of the focus is on the people in the photo, not what they're wearing.

#4 WEAR CLOTHES THAT REPRESENT YOU

These pictures should be something you cherish for a long time! If you spend most of your time worrying about the perfect outfit, it might not be authentically you. Wear what makes you feel good in your skin. If you're comfortable in what you're wearing then that'll shine through in your photos.

TO SUMMARIZE...

Bottom line -- Find some clothes that are comfortable, neutral, and fit your personality. This is your shoot, make sure that the photos represent you in the best way possible! Mini sessions move quickly so make sure you maximize your time by being comfortable in the clothes you wear.
